Our local newspaper - The Advocate - keeps everyone informed of current events. The Flagship University - Louisiana State University - has served the people of the region, the nation, and the world through extensive, multipurpose programs encompassing instruction, research, and public service. A former LSU President - William Tecumseh Sherman - left LSU to fight for the Northern Yankees in the Civil War of 1861 -- 65 and made the famous, "Sherman's March Through Georgia" which helped to defeat the South and their Cabinet. |
